The Clinical Q-Switched uses Flat Top OptiBeam technology an exclusive charateristic of the Clinical Q-Switched System. This feature is produced through part of the handpiece. A single laser shot is best described as a square and flat layering of energy. This provides safer and more effective treatments (with no scars), as the energy is homogeneously (evenly) delivered onto the treated areas. For example in a circular shape laser shot, the energy is focused and has the largest amount of energy (and heat) in the center of the shot fired. This produces an increased amount of heat in the epicenter of the shot and a cooler amount of energy on the edges of the circular shot. Essentially this is an uneven spread of energy with each shot.
When the Flat Top OptiBeam is used, energy is not focused into a circular shot but is spread evenly in the shape of a square pattern through the lens array in the handpiece. The square beam therefore helps prevent the overlapping of the pulses and the danger of over treating, and offers precise placement of each pulse with even heating on the skin allowing the operator to cover the whole treatment area without any dramas.
