MICRODERMABRASION CRYSTALS The microcrystals are Corundum (Aluminium oxide). This is the second hardest natural mineral known to science (next to diamonds). It is an inert substance and it is insoluble in water and organic substances. Its melting point is 2000 degrees centigrade. It is non-carcinogenic and non-toxic for ingestion. These properties make corundum a more excellent substance for exfoliation compared to alternatives like sugar, salt, sea salt (magnesium oxide) or baking soda (sodium bicarbonate).
Microdermabrasion is a procedure where tiny particles “sand” or “polish” the skin and gradually remove scarred or discolored epidermal tissue. Microscopic studies have supported the effectiveness of microdermabrasion.
